The Old Man Purred

“I hope it rains" the old cat said

Sitting low on the windowsill

"Dry outside

Not much to do now

Old age has come to me

I don’t like to play that much these days 

I sit here

Old

I wonder maybe it will rain today

I never liked the rain, cold and wet

I wanted to play and romp outside

I wanted to run then hide

Life was Summer fun

I wish I could do it all again

To live my life once more

That won’t happen now

I know this so true

I’ll just sit here 

And watch the rain 

When it comes today

I do, I meow

Hope it rains"

The old boy purred

Sitting on the windowsill

Not much to do or say 

He sat right there

Watched the rain 

Wishing he had more to say
